He purchased the disused poles and wire for $10 and created the Faraway Wind Organ, possibly the largest musical instrument in the world. The taut wires reacted to any stimulus, from the wind to contact with insects or rain. By tightening or loosening the wires, hanging objects from them, and manipulating them within their wooden supports, Lamb discovered a further range of sounds.
